2010 Ford Explorer Overview
Ford has big plans for the 2010 Explorer midsize SUV by continuing the XLT Sport package and enhancing the safety technologies throughout the vehicle.

The 2010 Ford Explorer is available in three series: XLT Sport, Eddie Bauer and Limited. Equipped with either a 210-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 mated to a five-speed automatic overdrive or a 292-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic overdrive transmission in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, the 2010 Ford Explorer not only has a sporty look and feel but also packs some power. The V-8 version can tow up to 7,115 lbs. when properly equipped.

One of the 2010 Ford Explorer’s drawbacks is it is slightly less fuel efficient than competitors Chevrolet Equinox LTZ, Dodge Nitro SXT, and Jeep Liberty Sport, averaging only 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. However, it can seat up to seven passengers and offers plenty of cargo volume.

An available voice-activated navigation system with SIRIUS Travel Link allows you to access information including: current gas prices from approximately 120,000 filling stations, traffic reports, weather conditions, sports scores and movie listings. Dual-zone automatic climate control, SYNC® multimedia system, leather seats, rear air conditioning, moonroof, reverse sensing system and automatic headlamps are optional.

As for safety, in addition to offering a proven stability control system, a standard trailer sway control works in conjunction with AdvanceTrac and roll stability control (RSC) to apply the brakes or reduce engine torque in order to bring both the vehicle and trailer under control. Ford’s AdvanceTrac with RSC system utilizes a roll rate sensor to detect roll angle and will apply the brakes to one or more wheels or reduce engine power to counter a potential rollover.  Front-seat side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and SOS Post-Crash Alert System all come standard.

Although lacking fuel efficiency, the 2010 Ford Explorer more than makes up for it by offering tons of power, enhanced premium safety features, and ample cargo room.
