The Ford Expedition is a better choice than the Mercury Mountaineer as far as hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of equipment or large dogs. The Expedition will very likely prove more convenient than the Mercury Mountaineer for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. The Ford Expedition outpulls the Mercury Mountaineer by a sizeable margin.

With that kind of horsepower, the Ford is a true speedster.

Dimensions
The Ford Expedition is considerably more ponderous than the Mercury Mountaineer. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Ford Expedition than the Mercury Mountaineer because of its bigger tank. The Mercury Mountaineer and the Ford compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
The Mountaineer's fuel tank will need to be replenished more often than the unit in the Ford.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Mercury is markedly cheaper to get to the dealership than the Ford.
