2011 Ford Expedition EL Overview
For those who need space—and lots of it, the expansive 2011 Ford Expedition EL has the seating capacity, towing capability and safety features that you and yours need on all of your adventures together.
The 2011 Ford Expedition EL is based on the smaller Expedition and boasts 15 extra inches of length and a standard third row of seating. The Expedition EL seats up to eight people in three rows, and cargo room varies with 130.8 cubic feet of volume behind the first row, 85.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 42.6 cubic feet behind the third. For your convenience, the third row folds flat into the floor via an optional power-folding mechanism. Available in XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited and King Ranch series, and 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, the 2011 Ford Expedition EL is definitely versatile. The Expedition EL is powered by a 5.4-liter, 310-horsepower, flex-fuel V-8 engine with 365 pounds-feet of torque, and can tow up to a gargantuan 9,200 pounds.
The FlexFuel feature allows you to switch between regular gasoline and ethanol. The 2011 Ford Expedition EL offers competitive power and fuel economy at 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, equal to the Chevrolet Suburban.
Ford’s SYNC® voice-activated hands-free communications and entertainment system is a standard feature on Eddie Bauer, Limited and King Ranch trim levels. An available voice-activated navigation system with SIRIUS Travel Link and a DVD entertainment system are just some of the optional features. An auto-dimming rearview mirror and leather-wrapped steering wheel come standard, while a power moonroof, power running boards, power liftgate, heated and cooled front seats are also available.
The 2011 Ford Expedition EL is loaded with standard safety features including trailer sway control, which works in conjunction with AdvanceTrac and roll stability control to apply the brakes or reduce engine torque in order to bring both the vehicle and trailer under control. Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, front-seat side impact airbags and side curtain airbags come standard, while a rearview camera is optional. Ford’s SOS Post-Crash Alert System activates the horn and emergency flashers in the event of airbag deployment.
There’s big, and then there’s EL big. If you love the outdoors, or need a vehicle that can accommodate all of the kids, the super-sized 2011 Ford Expedition EL is for you.
