2010 Ford Expedition EL Overview
Combine Ford truck toughness, SUV functionality, best-in-class tow rating, and best-in-class safety technologies and what you get is the 2010 Ford Expedition EL full-size SUV. Competing with the Chevrolet Suburban, the truck-based 2010 Ford Expedition EL SUV is powered by a 310-horsepower 5.4-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Expedition EL can tow up to a monstrous 9,200 pounds and features optional part-time four-wheel drive. The flex-fuel feature allows you to switch between regular gasoline and ethanol. The 2010 Ford Expedition EL is capable of seating up to nine occupants; is about 15 inches longer than the regular Expedition and has a standard third-row seat. An independent rear suspension allows the third-row seat to fold flat into the floor. Gauges and climate controls are similar to those found in the Ford F-150 pickup. The EL sits on 17-inch wheels with 18- and 20-inch wheels also available. A power moonroof, power liftgate, power running boards and rain-sensing wipers are optional and help round-out the rugged edges. Additional optional features include Ford’s SYNC voice-activated hands-free communications and entertainment system and voice-activated navigation system with SIRIUS Travel Link, which allows you to access to information including current gas prices from approximately 120,000 filling stations, traffic reports, weather conditions, sports scores and movie listings. An optional DVD entertainment system will help keep the kids entertained on those long road trips. The 2010 Ford Expedition EL is loaded with standard safety features including trailer sway control, which works in conjunction with AdvanceTrac and roll stability control (RSC) to apply the brakes or reduced engine torque in order to bring both the vehicle and trailer under control. Ford’s AdvanceTrac with RSC system utilizes a roll-rate sensor to detect roll angle and will apply the brakes to one or more wheels or reduce engine power to counter a potential rollover. Ford’s SOS Post-Crash Alert System activates the horn and emergency flashers in the event of airbag deployment. The 2010 Ford Expedition EL is quite a bargain when you factor in qualities such as Ford truck ruggedness, high-tech features such as Ford Sync, and best-in-class safety and towing ratings.
