Ford Escape Hybrid vs. Honda CR-V Review

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Honda CR-V and the Escape Hybrid when it comes to hauling capacity. The Ford Escape Hybrid and the Honda CR-V can accommodate the same number of passengers. The CR-V outpulls the Ford by a sizeable margin.

Performance
Both the Ford Escape Hybrid and the Honda CR-V are likely to feel a bit sluggish because of their high horsepower-to-weight ratio.

Dimensions
The Ford is a bit more ponderous than the Honda CR-V. The Ford Escape Hybrid's tank is approximately the same size as the CR-V's, though the Honda CR-V's is somewhat bigger. The Ford rides lower than the CR-V, which is a good thing for its center of gravity and ease of access. The Ford Escape Hybrid and the Honda CR-V compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You will definitely have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Honda CR-V than with the Ford.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs approximately the same to get the CR-V to the dealership as the Ford. Producing a precise gas mileage evaluation is so tricky that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Ford Escape Hybrid is the winner with respect to gas mileage. There honestly isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the CR-V is somewhat more economical than the Ford Escape Hybrid. The Honda isn't much less costly than the Ford Escape Hybrid as far as MSRP. Regarding out-the-door price, the Ford Escape Hybrid costs significantly more than the Honda CR-V.

Handling
The Escape Hybrid and the Honda CR-V have approximately similar tires. With their similar turning circles, the Ford Escape Hybrid and the Honda CR-V likely handle approximately the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Ford Escape Hybrid's engine is slightly smaller than the CR-V's, but not terribly so. Torque equals pickup, and the Honda CR-V will have picked up and gone by the time the Escape Hybrid finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Honda CR-V is substantially more powerful than the Escape Hybrid.

Comfort
Taller drivers will markedly enjoy the extra head room in the Ford Escape Hybrid's front cabin compared to the Honda CR-V. The Honda CR-V is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Ford Escape Hybrid.

Overview
The Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape Hybrid have the same basic warranty.
