Ford Edge vs. Volkswagen Tiguan Review

Utility
The Volkswagen Tiguan and the Ford Edge can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Volkswagen Tiguan is likely a better choice than the Ford in terms of hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of suitcases or sizeable pets.

Performance
With respect to horsepower, the Ford packs quite a wallop and will knock the Volkswagen Tiguan down a few rungs. On the flip side, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Edge is considerably more bulky than the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Volkswagen's tank is roughly the same size as the Ford Edge's, though the Ford Edge's is a bit larger. The Tiguan and the Ford Edge compete for the same parking spaces. The Ford Edge's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the other hand, the Volkswagen Tiguan may give a more maneuverable feel in daily traffic.

Convenience
You quite certainly won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Volkswagen than with the Ford, as both offer comparable ranges.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Volkswagen Tiguan to the dealership as the Ford Edge. There isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Volkswagen Tiguan is slightly more economical than the Ford. The Volkswagen Tiguan won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Ford Edge. When it comes to MSRP, the Volkswagen Tiguan costs considerably less than the Ford Edge.

Handling
With their similar turning radiuses, the Ford and the Volkswagen likely handle approximately the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Ford has a bigger engine than the Volkswagen Tiguan. Bear in mind that smaller engines are often cheaper to fix, but smaller engines can be stressed more. Torque equals pickup, and the Ford Edge will have picked up and gone by the time the Volkswagen Tiguan finally gets moving.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Ford Edge offers a bit more head room than the Tiguan, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Edge offers more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Volkswagen Tiguan does.

Overview
The Ford Edge and the Volkswagen Tiguan have the same basic warranty.
