Neither the Ford Edge nor the 4Runner has a marked advantage when it comes to seating capacity. The Toyota 4Runner is a better choice than the Ford Edge as far as transporting cargo, especially if you often need to carry a lot of gear or massive animals. Towing is considerably more the Toyota 4Runner's forte than it is the Edge's.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Toyota 4Runner than the Ford because of its larger tank. The Ford Edge and the Toyota 4Runner compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You definitely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Ford Edge than with the Toyota 4Runner, because both offer comparable ranges.
