The Chevrolet Traverse will most definitely prove handier than the Edge for those of you with frequent kid-cargo.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Chevrolet Traverse than the Ford because of its larger tank. The Ford Edge and the Traverse compete for the same parking spaces. The Chevrolet Traverse's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the flip side, the Ford Edge may give a more agile feel in daily traffic.

Convenience
You most certainly won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Ford Edge than with the Chevrolet Traverse, because both offer similar mileage ranges.

Cost
The Ford Edge won't save you much money at the pump compared to the Chevrolet. There isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Ford Edge is somewhat more economical than the Chevrolet Traverse. The Chevrolet Traverse isn't much costlier than the Ford regarding MSRP.

Handling
With their similar turning radii, the Ford Edge and the Chevrolet Traverse definitely handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Ford Edge and the Chevrolet Traverse have similar-sized engines, with a slight advantage to the Chevrolet Traverse. The Ford Edge has no lessons to learn with respect to torque from the Chevrolet Traverse. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Chevrolet isn't much more powerful than the Ford Edge.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Chevrolet Traverse offers a bit more head room than the Ford Edge, there honestly isn't much of a difference. The Ford Edge offers more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Chevrolet does.
