The Chevrolet Equinox and the Edge can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Chevrolet Equinox is a better choice than the Edge in terms of transporting cargo, especially if you frequently need to carry a lot of luggage or large animals. Towing is substantially more the Chevrolet Equinox's forte than it is the Ford Edge's.

Performance
In terms of horsepower, the Ford Edge packs quite a punch and will knock the Chevrolet Equinox down a few rungs. However, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Dimensions
The Ford Edge is significantly heavier than the Chevrolet Equinox. The Ford Edge's tank is about the same size as the Chevrolet Equinox's, though the Chevrolet Equinox's is a tad bigger. The Ford Edge and the Chevrolet Equinox compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Edge than with the Chevrolet Equinox, as both offer comparable ranges.

With its tighter turning radius, the Ford Edge is quite certainly sprier than the Chevrolet Equinox, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, remember that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Ford Edge's engine isn't much more massive than the Chevrolet Equinox's. Torque equals pickup, and the Ford Edge will have picked up and gone by the time the Chevrolet Equinox finally gets moving.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Chevrolet Equinox offers a bit more head room than the Ford Edge, there honestly isn't much of a difference. The Chevrolet Equinox is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Ford Edge.
