Ford Edge vs. Acura RDX Review

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Ford Edge and the Acura RDX most certainly handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Ford Edge has a more massive engine than the Acura RDX. Keep in mind that smaller engines typically get better gas mileage, but a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Acura RDX isn't much more powerful than the Edge.

Utility
The Acura RDX and the Ford Edge can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Ford is likely a better choice than the RDX as far as transporting cargo, especially if you frequently need to carry a lot of cargo or sizeable animals. The Ford Edge outpulls the Acura RDX by a large margin.

Convenience
The Acura RDX's fuel tank will need to be replenished more often than the unit in the Ford Edge.

Comfort
Taller drivers will considerably enjoy the extra head room in the Ford Edge's front cabin compared to the Acura RDX. The ampler interior dimensions of the Ford Edge make it significantly more spacious for your passengers than the RDX.

Dimensions
The Ford Edge is significantly more bulky than the Acura RDX. The Acura RDX's tank is approximately the same size as the Ford Edge's, though the Ford Edge's is slightly bigger. The Acura and the Ford Edge compete for the same parking spaces. The Acura's shorter wheelbase will likely give a nimbler feel in daily traffic. On the flip side, the Edge is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Ford Edge to the dealership as the Acura. The Acura RDX won't tax your gas budget significantly more than the Ford Edge will. The Acura RDX doesn't pale in comparison to the Ford Edge in terms of fuel economy. With respect to MSRP, the Acura RDX costs approximately as much as the Ford Edge (though the Ford Edge is somewhat cheaper).

Warranty
The basic warranty that comes with the Edge isn't quite as generous as the Acura RDX's.
