2010 Ford E-250 Overview
Ford is king of sales in the full-size van segment, and the 2010 Ford E-250 is worth its salt with its power and functionality.
Multiple engine options let you balance fuel economy with enhanced towing capability and acceleration. The base engine is a 225-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8, while a 255-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8 takes it to the next level. Engines are mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The E-250 has more powerful engines than the Dodge Sprinter, while the 5.4-liter lags a bit behind the Chevy 2500-series van’s base V-8. Enhanced towing and payload capabilities mean the E-250 can haul up to 3,530 pounds and tow up to 6,600 pounds.
The basic work-ready interior features two vinyl bucket seats and an optional bench seat for three can be mounted behind. Without the rear seats, there is 237 cubic feet of cargo room on the standard-length van, and 275 cubic feet on the extended van. Sirius Satellite Radio, the SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system, parking sensors, a rearview camera, a six-CD changer and an integrated Garmin navigation system with 6.5-inch touch screen are great optional features that make this cargo hauler a comfortable, enjoyable ride.
Ford’s Work Solutions package is completely unique in the marketplace, and sets the 2010 Ford E-250 apart as the most functional and versatile full-size van. This available in-dash computer, developed in conjunction with Magneti Marelli and run on Microsoft Auto OS, includes an optional wireless mouse and a printer. The package is highlighted by Tool Link – a Radio-Frequency ID program that lets you keep track of tools stored in the van – and Crew Chief – a communications and diagnostics system that talks to other vehicles in your fleet. Crew Chief allows you to keep track of vehicle maintenance needs and dispatch employees to a job site. You can also connect to your home or office computer from the E-250. This amazing feature can save your business tons of dough – even if you aren’t a baker.
Safety is engineered into the E-250, with standard dual front airbags and four-wheel antilock brakes; traction and stability control systems are optional. Crash tests ratings are not available except the rollover test, in which the two-wheel drive van achieved a Three-Star rating.
For big-load hauling and towing, take-it-all-with-you cargo room, and the ability to keep track of your tools and all your fleet vehicles, you can’t beat the 2010 Ford E-250.
