2010 might just give the folks at Ford a reason to party with the rebirth of the Fiesta. After a long hiatus here in the states, Ford is bringing the fuel efficient (estimated 28/38 city/highway mpg) subcompact stateside to compete with the Honda Fit. Expect to see the Fiesta (labeled “2011”) in the spring of 2010.
Ford’s bread and butter compact sedan/coupe Focus gets standard antilock brakes, electronic stability system, keyless entry and power locks on all trims, along with an excellent 24 mpg in the city and 33-35 mpg on the highway.
The midsize Fusion sedan boasts one of the most comprehensive redesigns in Ford’s impressive fleet. The 2010 Fusion features a bigger grille, redesigned headlights and simplified rear fascia to combine with improved power in all three engines. The all-new 2010 Fusion Hybrid incorporates the style changes from its gas-only sibling and yields an impressive 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
Ford's full-size Taurus receives a significant makeover for the 2010 model year that includes new exterior and interior styling as well as high-end options you might not expect to find in a mainstream family sedan. The revived Taurus SHO (Super High Output) boasts a twin-turbo, direct-injection 365-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6. The larger, 7-passenger Taurus X crossover wagon has been discontinued.
Get up to 315-horsepower in Ford’s most popular speed demon—the Mustang. The Mustang (available as a coupe and convertible) updated its pony car with subtle exterior tweaks, interior upgrades and improved suspension tuning. Aside from the cobra design on the Shelby GT500, expect to travel faster than the speed of sound with the supercharged 5.4-liter, 500-horsepower V-8 beast.
As the crossover SUV craze reaches mammoth proportions, the midsize Edge crossover SUV tweaked the aerodynamics and drivetrain of all Edge models for increase fuel economy.
SUV buyers will continue to find several models to choose from, including the compact Escape, the mid-size Explorer and Sport Trac, and the full-size Expedition.
The fuel-efficient Ford Escape Hybrid receives the best fuel economy of any SUV with 29-34 mpg in the city and 27-31 mpg on the highway.

Truck lovers will probably keep the full-size F-150 pickup in the sales chart leader position, due to its 10 trim selections and the return of the FX2 and Harley-Davidson edition and the introduction of the all-new SVT raptor model. The F-series is chock-full of capable pickups like the F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and F-450 Super Duty models. The inexpensive Ford Ranger compact pickup continues to please city dwellers with limited cargo hauling duties.
For small business owners or families with major people or cargo hauling duties, the popular E-150, E-250 and E-350 full-size vans will do the job nicely.
