2014 FIAT 500L Overview (See Available Styles)

  • New model for 2014
  • Four-door vehicle with more passenger and cargo room
  • Distinctive FIAT styling
FIAT introduces a brand new model that is larger and more practical than the tiny 500, the 2014 500L.

The L might not stand for “large” but it’s a great way to think about the 500L; it keeps the familiar rounded styling of the 500 but in a larger package that has four doors and offers much more cargo and passenger room. Its closest competitor is the MINI Countryman, but the 500L doesn’t sell itself as a crossover.  Each of the pillars are blacked out which makes the white roof appear as though it’s floating above the rest of the vehicle. 16-inch wheels come standard, with larger 17-inch cogs and a panoramic moonroof optional.

Under the hood, the 500L gets a version of the engine found in the 500 Abarth, but tuned to provide even more torque. The turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder produces 160-hp and 184 pounds-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic optional; all models are front-wheel drive only.

Inside, there is plenty of cargo room, with 23.1 cubic feet found behind the rear seats which can expand to 68 cubic feet with the standard 60/40-split rear seats folded down. The interior is highly customizable as well, with seven fabric and two leather upholstery options, and different color schemes offered on the dashboard. Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, Uconnect multimedia, air conditioning, and a tilt/telescoping steering column. A navigation system is optional.

Standard safety features include seven airbags, active front head restraints, antilock brakes, and an electronic stability system. For safer maneuvering in tight spaces, parking sensors and a rearview camera are also available.
