Dodge Ram 1500 vs. GMC Sierra 2500HD Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Ram 1500 to the dealership as the Sierra 2500HD. With respect to MSRP, the Ram 1500 costs considerably less than the GMC.

Utility
The GMC Sierra 2500HD's bigger trunk will accommodate more sizeable items than the Dodge. The Dodge Ram 1500 and the GMC Sierra 2500HD can accommodate the same number of passengers. The Sierra 2500HD is likely a better choice than the Dodge with respect to transporting cargo, especially if you frequently need to carry a lot of cargo or big animals. The GMC Sierra 2500HD outpulls the Ram 1500 by a big margin.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Sierra 2500HD offers a bit more head room than the Dodge Ram 1500, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Dodge make it substantially roomier for your passengers than the GMC Sierra 2500HD.

Dimensions
The Sierra 2500HD is substantially heavier than the Dodge Ram 1500. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Dodge Ram 1500 than the GMC Sierra 2500HD because of its larger tank. The Ram 1500 and the GMC Sierra 2500HD compete for the same parking spaces. The GMC Sierra 2500HD's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the other hand, the Dodge Ram 1500 may give a more agile feel in daily traffic.

Performance
With that kind of horsepower, both the Ram 1500 and the GMC Sierra 2500HD are legitimate sportscars.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Dodge Ram 1500 is quite certainly more maneuverable than the GMC Sierra 2500HD, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the flip side, remember that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The GMC Sierra 2500HD's engine is tremendously larger than the Dodge Ram 1500's. Note that more sizeable engines may use more gasoline than smaller ones. The GMC Sierra 2500HD packs quite a punch compared to the Dodge in terms of torque, which is roughly equivalent to acceleration. Torque equals pickup, and the Sierra 2500HD will have picked up and gone by the time the Dodge Ram 1500 finally gets moving.

Warranty
The GMC Sierra 2500HD and the Dodge Ram 1500 have the same basic warranty.
