New 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Those looking for a truck with fresh styling, improved utility and gargantuan power can look to the impressive 2009 Dodge Ram 1500.

One of Dodge’s 35 new or improved features is the unique “grille-forward” design making the freshly redesigned Ram more aerodynamic.  The Ram 1500 is still available in five trims: ST, SLT, TRX4, Sport and Laramie.  However, the Mega Cab® 1500 has been replaced with a more conventional crew cab, while the regular cab and quad cab remain.  As for power, the Ram 1500 kicks things off with a 3.7-liter, 215-horsepower V-6 that produces 235 pounds-feet of torque.  The refined and powerful 4.7-liter, 310-horsepower V-8 has Flex Fuel capability to run on gasoline or E85 ethanol.  The dominant 5.7-liter, 330-horsepower HEMI® V-8 churns out 404 pounds-feet of torque to boost acceleration.

4-wheel drive models feature a manual-shift transfer case or available electric shift, operating in four modes for ultimate traction and flexibility. When properly equipped, maximum towing capacity is an impressive 9,100 pounds, allowing you to tow some seriously big items. With a maximum payload of 8,510 pounds, it can accommodate some hefty loads.  Three cargo bed lengths of 5 feet 7 inches; 6 feet, 4 inches and 8 feet can accommodate all kinds of cargo.

In an attempt to appeal to a wider audience, the Ram 1500’s interior has premium seating with soft-touch materials and a console-mounted shifter.  The Ram 1500 boasts the incredibly versatile UConnect® system that can fulfill your digital dreams through a 6.5-inch touch screen.  Turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect laptops, phones, PSPs, PDAs and play online games, surf the internet and download music.  The 30 GB hard drive lets you upload and store up to 6,700 songs, tons of photos and play your iPod/MP3 player through the sound system.  Include Sirius Satellite Radio, turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity and you’ve just turned your car into the ultimate entertainment center. Safety features include Electronic Stability Control to maximize handling and control during quick evasive moves and Hill Start Assist to prevent roll-back on large hills. Large brake calipers and available 4-wheel anti lock brakes help to prevent lockup during hard braking.
