Dodge Nitro vs. Pontiac Torrent Review

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Dodge Nitro is quite certainly more maneuverable than the Pontiac Torrent, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Nitro's engine isn't much larger than the Pontiac's. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Dodge Nitro is considerably more powerful than the Torrent.

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Dodge Nitro and the Pontiac Torrent with respect to hauling capacity. The Dodge Nitro and the Torrent can accommodate the same number of passengers. There's no clear winner between the Pontiac Torrent and the Dodge Nitro regarding transporting cargo. Towing is markedly more the Dodge Nitro's forte than it is the Pontiac Torrent's.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Torrent offers a bit more head room than the Dodge, there honestly isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the Pontiac Torrent provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the Dodge Nitro, there frankly isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The Dodge is a little more ponderous than the Torrent. Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Dodge Nitro than the Pontiac Torrent because of its bigger tank. The Nitro and the Pontiac compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Pontiac to the dealership as the Dodge. The Pontiac Torrent isn't much more expensive than the Dodge Nitro when it comes to MSRP.
