The Hyundai Santa Fe will quite certainly prove handier than the Dodge Nitro for those of you with frequent kid-cargo.

Dimensions
The Dodge Nitro's tank is about the same size as the Hyundai Santa Fe's, though the Santa Fe's is a little larger. The Dodge Nitro and the Hyundai Santa Fe compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You will definitely have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Dodge Nitro than with the Santa Fe.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Dodge Nitro to the dealership as the Santa Fe. Producing an exact gas mileage evaluation is so tough that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Hyundai Santa Fe perform almost similarly with respect to gas mileage. The Nitro will tax your gasoline budget considerably more than the Hyundai Santa Fe will. With respect to MSRP, the Hyundai Santa Fe costs considerably more than the Dodge Nitro.

Handling
With their similar turning circles, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Nitro likely handle almost the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Santa Fe's engine is substantially smaller than the Nitro's. Note that smaller engines can be stressed more; on the other hand, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Dodge will have picked up and gone by the time the Hyundai Santa Fe finally gets moving. The Santa Fe could learn a lesson or two from the Nitro in terms of torque.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Dodge offers a bit more head room than the Hyundai Santa Fe, there really isn't much of a difference. The Nitro offers more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Hyundai Santa Fe does.

Warranty
The basic after-sale protection that comes with the Dodge Nitro isn't quite as generous as the Hyundai Santa Fe's.
