2009 Dodge Nitro Overview
With its distinctive, muscular proportions, the 2009 Dodge Nitro is a sporty, versatile compact SUV that stands out from a very competitive crowd.

Trim levels include the basic SXT, well-equipped SLT, and high-performance R/T. The 3.7-liter, 210-horsepower V-6 engine provides ample acceleration and a robust 4.0-liter, 260-horsepower V-6 engine provides instantaneous thrust.  The five-speed manual transmission is no longer available and both engines are now mated to either a four- or five-speed automatic transmission.  The Nitro receives 15-16 mpg in the city and 20-22 mpg on the highway, and competes with the Nissan Xterra and Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Standard two-wheel drive will suit most driving situations, while available shift-on-the-fly, part-time four-wheel drive increases traction and control in a variety of conditions. With the available Trailer Towing Group, the R/T model can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The standard sport suspension lends excellent road feel and a smooth, stable ride, while available new 20-inch chromed aluminum wheels amplify the flashy looks. The optional Remote Start System lets you start the vehicle from up to 300 feet away. The Grand Caravan boasts the incredibly versatile UConnect® system that can fulfill your digital dreams through a 6.5-inch touch screen.  Turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect laptops, phones, PSPs, PDAs and play online games, surf the internet and download music.  The 30 GB hard drive lets you upload and store up to 6,700 songs, tons of photos and play your iPod/MP3 player through the sound system.  Include Sirius Satellite Radio, turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity and you’ve just turned your car into the ultimate entertainment center.  An optional rear DVD entertainment system turns the second row into a theatre with the 8-inch LCD color screen, wireless headsets, and remote control.

Safety features include an Electronic Stability Program designed to maintain control during extreme steering maneuvers. The available ParkSense® Rear Park Assists uses sound waves to detect nearby obstacles to help maneuver in tight spaces. The standard anti-lock braking system with brake assist help prevent wheel lockup for shorter stopping distances. A 5-star crash test rating in front and side impact testing makes it one of the safest compact SUVs. All models feature dual front airbags and side curtain airbags with roll-sensing technology for additional passenger protection in a collision.

The 2009 Dodge Nitro blends a bold exterior with bold performance and cutting-edge technology that is sure to please SUV enthusiasts everywhere.
