Dodge Durango vs. Chevrolet Tahoe Review

Utility
There's no clear winner between the Tahoe and the Dodge when it comes to hauling capacity. The Tahoe will definitely prove more practical than the Dodge Durango for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. The Chevrolet Tahoe is a better choice than the Durango with respect to transporting cargo, especially if you frequently need to carry a lot of gear or pets.

Performance
In terms of horsepower, the Chevrolet packs quite a punch and will knock the Dodge Durango down a few rungs. On the flip side, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums. The Dodge Durango is likely to feel somewhat sluggish because of its high horsepower-to-weight ratio compared to the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Dimensions
The Chevrolet Tahoe is a little more ponderous than the Dodge Durango. The Chevrolet's tank is about the same size as the Dodge's, though the Dodge's is somewhat more capacious. The Dodge Durango and the Chevrolet Tahoe compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You'll likely take the Dodge Durango for a fill-up about as often as the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The Dodge Durango is considerably cheaper to get to the dealership than the Tahoe. There frankly isn't much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Chevrolet Tahoe is a tad more economical than the Dodge. The Chevrolet Tahoe will save you money at the pump compared to the Durango. The Dodge Durango isn't much less costly than the Tahoe as far as MSRP. As far as final cost, the Chevrolet Tahoe costs substantially more than the Dodge Durango.

Handling
The Chevrolet Tahoe and the Dodge Durango have roughly comparable tires. With their comparable turning radii, the Dodge Durango and the Chevrolet Tahoe most definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Dodge Durango and the Tahoe have similar-sized engines, with a slight advantage to the Tahoe. The Durango could learn a lesson or two from the Tahoe with respect to torque.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Chevrolet Tahoe offers a bit more head room than the Dodge Durango, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Chevrolet Tahoe is not particularly roomier for your passengers than the Durango.

Overview
The Tahoe and the Dodge Durango have the same basic after-sale protection. Regarding warranty against rust, the Chevrolet Tahoe has significantly better coverage than the Dodge Durango.
