2010 Dodge Dakota Overview
The 2010 Dodge Dakota midsize pickup is a capable truck that receives new front and rear suspension components designed to further improve ride and handling.
With competition from Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier, the 2010 Dodge Dakota is available in extended and crew cabs and ST, Big Horn, TRX4 and Laramie trim levels. Offering one the longest standard cargo bed in its class, the extended features a 6.5-foot bed while the crew cab features a 5-foot, 3-inch bed.
Two powerful engines are available starting with a standard 210-horsepower, 3.7-liter Magnum V-6 and moving up to a 302-horsepower, 4.7-liter flex-fuel V-8 with electronic throttle control mated to either a four-speed automatic with overdrive or five-speed multi-speed automatic with overdrive. Maximum EPA-estimated fuel efficiency is 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
The rear-wheel-drive Dakota sports a 131-inch wheelbase and sits on standard 16-inch wheels, while the Laramie offers 18-inch wheels. If off-roading is what you’re into, the TRX4 off-road package in available on 4x4 models, and if you’re looking to haul, the 2010 Dodge Dakota can tow up to 7,250 pounds when properly equipped.
Available exterior features include a bedliner, dual-position tailgate for securing cargo, and sliding rear window. Interior highlights include additional storage space with Crate ’n Go collapsible and removable cargo management system providing up to a total 37.1 cubic feet of space, navigation system and heated leather seats.
Earning Five-Star ratings for front-impact crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, available safety features on the 2010 Dodge Dakota include side curtain airbags, electronic brake-force distribution, four-wheel antilock brakes and an enhanced accident response system turns on interior lights, unlocks doors and turns off the fuel pump in case the airbags should deploy.
