2009 Dodge Dakota Overview
The 2009 Dodge Dakota offers the most options and power of any truck in the mid-size class. Team any of the two engines and body styles with any of the four trim levels and there is a package that will satisfy even the most hard-to-please driver.

To pinpoint the Dakota option right for you, first choose a body type. The Dakota is available in an extended cab version that seats five and has a 6.4-foot cargo bed. A crew cab version is also available, seats six and has a 5.3-foot bed.

Next choose your engine type. The 2009 Dakota comes with a 3.7-liter, 210-horsepower V-6 engine (available in six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission). Upgrade to the 4.7-liter, 302-horsepower V-8 (controlled by a five-speed automatic transmission). The Dodge Dakota is the only truck in its class to hold the extra power of a V-8. This helps the truck tow up to 4,900 pounds of cargo. Whatever engine you choose, feel comfortable that the Dakota gets 15 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the freeway. While not hybrid-level fuel efficiency, it is comparable to other trucks in its class.

The most exciting choices come in the four distinct trim levels. The base ST model is an excellent value, or you can power up with the mid-level Big Horn trim (aka the Lone Star). Prepare for serious off-roading with the TRX2 trim. The top of the line Laramie trim features the sleekest styling, interior amenities and options. Add more options to your Dakota with the new Crate 'N Go organizational system. The system comes with storage compartments and containers specifically designed for both the inside and bed of the truck.

While there are innumerable options, all trims put safety before style. Each trim has front driver and passenger airbags and optional side curtain airbags. The Dakota also scored five out of five stars on the NHTSA Frontal Crash Test.

The 2009 Dodge Dakota embodies brute power, endless options, numerous safety features and ample towing capacity. It is the perfect truck to please the needs of every member of your family (and offers plenty of room if you are planning on adding more).
