Dodge Charger vs. Subaru Outback Review

Performance
With respect to horsepower, the Dodge Charger packs quite a punch and will knock the Subaru Outback down a few rungs. However, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the Subaru Outback is doubtless more maneuverable than the Dodge, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Dodge Charger's engine is tremendously more sizeable than the Subaru Outback's. Remember that bigger engines may use more gas than smaller ones. Torque is the force that lets you accelerate quickly, and in this respect, the Dodge Charger is tremendously more powerful than the Outback.

Utility
Neither the Dodge nor the Subaru Outback has a marked advantage with respect to seating capacity. The Subaru Outback outpulls the Charger by a massive margin.

Convenience
You won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Subaru Outback than with the Charger, as both offer comparable mileage ranges.

Comfort
Taller drivers will markedly enjoy the extra head room in the Dodge Charger's front cabin compared to the Subaru. The Dodge Charger provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Subaru Outback does.

Dimensions
The Subaru Outback's tank is roughly the same size as the Charger's, though the Dodge Charger's is a tad more capacious. The Subaru Outback rides lower than the Dodge, which is a good thing for its center of gravity and ease of access. The Subaru Outback and the Dodge Charger compete for the same parking spaces. The Subaru Outback's shorter wheelbase will likely give a more agile feel in daily traffic. However, the Charger is likely to have a smoother, more stable ride.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Subaru Outback to the dealership as the Dodge Charger. In terms of gas mileage, the Subaru is somewhat better than the Dodge Charger, but not by much. Producing a precise fuel economy evaluation is so hard that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though both the Subaru and the Subaru perform roughly comparably with respect to gas mileage. Regarding MSRP, the Subaru Outback costs roughly as much as the Dodge Charger (though the Dodge Charger is a little cheaper). The Dodge Charger is a reasonably-priced sportscar.

Overview
The Subaru Outback and the Charger have the same basic warranty.
