2011 Dodge Challenger Overview
Looking back to the good ‘ol days of fast, American muscle, the 2011 Dodge Challenger is a blast from the past, but with a modern touch.
If you like to go faster-than-fast, then you’ll be excited to know that the 2011 Dodge Challenger features three very distinct, yet powerful engine options. A new 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 comes standard on the base SE trim and produces 268 pounds-feet of torque. Take it up a notch with a 372-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 in the R/T trim that churns-out 400 pounds-feet of torque. If you want to go fast and furious, than the Challenger SRT8 and its 470-horsepower, 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 rockets from zero to 60 mph in less than five seconds, while pouring out 470 pounds-feet of torque. The SE engine is mated to a five-speed automatic, while the R/T adds an optional six-speed manual transmission. The automatic features a cylinder deactivation system that allows the car to operate on four cylinders when less power is needed to save fuel. Competition in the new-muscle car segment includes the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang.
Fuel estimates for the 2011 Dodge Challenger are actually quite nice considering the power involved: 14-18 mpg in the city and 22-27 mpg on the highway. Body-colored door handles, front and rear bumpers, and mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and chrome exhaust tips are standard and enhance the Challenger’s retro look. For a more bold and fun look, fog lights, xenon high-intensity discharge headlights, 20-inch rims, a sunroof, and performance exhaust system are optional. The super-powerful SRT8 features a performance-tuned dual exhaust system, Brembo brakes, limited-slip differential, quad exhaust tips, and white-and-blue leather upholstery.
The 2011 Dodge Challenger keeps its retro appeal on the interior with a pistol-grip design on the shifter and its throwback gauge cluster and black headliner. Standard features abound and include cruise control, automatic air conditioning, Keyless Go remote start (automatic transmission only), power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a 60/40-split folding rear bench. A navigation system, iPod connectivity, and touch-screen audio system with 30 GB hard drive are optional and give this retro car some futuristic tech options.
Safety comes standard in the 2011 Dodge Challenger and includes side curtain airbags for front and rear occupants, front-seat side-impact airbags, an electronic stability system, and antilock brakes.
Experience the thrill of driving again with the old school, yet modern 2011 Dodge Challenger.
