Dodge Caliber vs. Honda Insight Review

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Dodge to the dealership as the Honda Insight. Producing an exact gas mileage evaluation is so tricky that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the Honda Insight is the winner in terms of gas mileage. Regarding gas mileage, the Honda Insight has the Caliber beat. When it comes to MSRP, the Honda Insight costs about as much as the Dodge Caliber (though the Dodge Caliber is somewhat cheaper). The Honda will save you a bundle at the pump every year compared to the Dodge Caliber.

Utility
Neither the Dodge Caliber nor the Insight has a marked advantage when it comes to seating capacity.

Convenience
You will quite certainly have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Dodge Caliber than with the Insight.

Comfort
Taller drivers will significantly enjoy the extra head room in the Dodge's front cabin compared to the Honda Insight. The ampler interior dimensions of the Dodge Caliber make it substantially more spacious for your passengers than the Honda.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Dodge Caliber than the Honda Insight because of its larger tank. The Insight and the Caliber compete for the same parking spaces.

Performance
Regarding horsepower, the Dodge Caliber packs quite a wallop and will knock the Honda Insight down a few rungs. However, note that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With their similar turning radii, the Dodge Caliber and the Honda definitely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Insight's engine is substantially smaller than the Dodge Caliber's. Bear in mind that a smaller engine usually has to work a little harder; on the flip side, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque equals pickup, and the Dodge Caliber will have picked up and gone by the time the Honda finally gets moving. The Honda Insight could learn a lesson or two from the Dodge when it comes to torque.
