The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs almost the same to get the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid to the dealership as the Dodge Avenger. As far as gas mileage, the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid beats the Dodge Avenger. The Dodge Avenger is significantly less expensive than the Chevrolet as far as MSRP.

Utility
Neither the Malibu Hybrid nor the Avenger has a marked advantage when it comes to seating capacity.

Convenience
You definitely won't have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Dodge Avenger than with the Chevrolet, as both offer comparable mileage ranges.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Dodge Avenger offers a bit more head room than the Malibu Hybrid, there frankly isn't much of a difference. The Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Avenger.

Dimensions
Your wallet will hurt more every time you fill up the Dodge Avenger than the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid because of its larger tank. The Dodge Avenger and the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid compete for the same parking spaces.

Performance
Regarding horsepower, the Dodge packs quite a punch and will knock the Chevrolet down a few rungs. However, keep in mind that high horsepower engines often command higher insurance premiums.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Dodge Avenger is most certainly more maneuverable than the Malibu Hybrid, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, bear in mind that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Avenger's engine is somewhat smaller than the Chevrolet's, but not terribly so. The Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid has no lessons to learn when it comes to torque from the Dodge Avenger. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Dodge isn't much more powerful than the Malibu Hybrid.
