2008 Chrysler Pacifica Overview
Billed as an LUV – Lifestyle Utility Vehicle – the 2008 Chrysler Pacifica is essentially a large wagon with supreme versatility that can handle a variety of tasks. Available in three trim levels – basic LX, upscale Touring, and top-of-the-line Limited, the Pacifica is available as a front-wheel drive or more capable all-wheel drive model, which can handle a variety of road and weather conditions with ease. Two powerful engines are available, starting with a 3.8 liter V6 engine making 200 horsepower that supplies decent acceleration mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The larger 4.0 liter V6 engine generates 253 horsepower and better passing power mated to a 6-speed AutoStick® transmission that allows you to shift gears manually without a traditional clutch. The Pacifica can tow trailers up to 2,600 lbs. or up to 3.500 lbs. with an engine oil cooler, allowing you to bring the boat or family camper up for a road trip. Safety is a major focus in the Pacifica, with a 5-star front- and side-impact crash test rating. The standard four-wheel antilock brake system prevents wheel lockup and enhances braking power. The available Electronic Stability Control Program is designed to help the driver maintain control during evasive steering maneuvers. The standard Tire-Pressure Monitoring System automatically checks each tire and alerts the driver to any significant drops in pressure. Optional high-intensity discharge headlamps provide three times the light output of conventional lamps. The available ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System uses four ultrasonic sensors to assist with parallel parking maneuvers. A comprehensive airbag package includes dual front airbags, an inflatable knee blocker for the driver, and supplemental side-curtain airbags to protect passengers in a collision. The available ParkView® Rear Back-up Camera provides a view in the in-cluster navigation screen of what’s behind the vehicle. A power liftgate can be operated with a button on the keyfob, making loading and unloading easy. The optional Rear Seat Video System offers a drop-down LCD screen and wireless headphones so rear-seat passengers can enjoy CDs or DVDs on road trips. The perfect compromise between an SUV and a wagon, the 2008 Chrysler Pacifica offers the best of both worlds. |
