2010 Chevrolet Traverse Overview
Traveling cross-country has never been easier when you’re tucked safely inside the confines of the cavernous 2010 Chevrolet Traverse.
Entering its second year in production, the eight-passenger Chevy Traverse competes with Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9 and Hyundai Veracruz in the full-size crossover SUV segment. Available in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels; the Traverse remains mostly unchanged from its debut in 2009, except that standard USB ports are now offered. The Traverse is powered by an impressive 281-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. A dual-exhaust output in the LTZ bumps output up to 288-hp. The 2010 Chevy Tranverse averages 17 mpg in the city and a respectable 24 mpg on the highway and offers a choice between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. When properly equipped, the Traverse can tow up to 5,200 lbs.
The base LS sits on 17-inch wheels and comes with standard split-folding second- and third-row bench seats. The 1LT and 2LT sub trims make up the LT, which sits on 18-inch wheels and features a trip computer and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 2LT adds tri-zone automatic climate control, power liftgate and 10-speaker Bose sound system. The LTZ rides on 20-inch wheels and offers leather upholstery and heated and ventilated power front seats. Maximum cargo capacity inside the roomy Traverse is 117 cubic feet with the second- and third-row seats folded down and it’s an excellent vehicle for family vacations, especially with the optional rear-seat DVD entertainment system. A trailering package and navigation system are also options.
Standard safety features on the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse include anti-lock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags for all three rows. GM also throws in a one-year subscription to OnStar with turn-by-turn navigation and hands-free phone connectivity.
