The 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe is second to none with a variety of drivetrains, seating configurations and hybrid technology. It offers rugged styling, excellent towing capacity, and a choice between two-wheel drive and more capable four-wheel drive models.
The Tahoe comes in four trim levels – LS, LT, LTZ, and Hybrid models. 2WD models feature a 4.8-liter, 295-horsepower V-8 or a 5.3-liter, 320-horsepower V-8 with Active Fuel Management™. Optional on all trim levels (except Hybrid) is a 5.3-liter, 310-horsepower V-8 engine featuring E85 FlexFuel capability, allowing the engine to run on a gasoline/ethanol blend. A new 6.2-liter, 395-horsepower V-8 with E85 FlexFuel capability is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is optional. The Tahoe Hybrid features a powerful Vortec 6.0-liter V-8 mated to two-mode electric motor that utilizes regenerative braking technology to capture power during stops to charge the battery pack. This system offers a 40 percent increase in estimated fuel efficiency for city driving.
Amenities are plentiful, inside and out. An array of 18- and 20-inch aluminum wheels announce you’ve arrived in style. Ultrasonic rear park assist provides an audible beep to indicate your distance from objects when backing up. The Z71 Off-Road Package includes an off-road suspension, automatic locking rear differential and a skid plate package for more serious off-road duties. An optional Bose® nine-speaker audio system with dual-play CD/MP3/DVD player provides excellent acoustic clarity. The optional XM NavTraffic shows real-time traffic data, while navigation radio includes voice recognition and a touch-screen navigation screen for ease of use.
Cargo room is very generous, with a maximum of 108.9 cubic feet with the new standard third-row seat removed and second row seat folded. Towing capacity is extremely competitive, with a maximum of 8,200 lbs. on V8-equipped 4WD models.Dual front airbags and head-curtain side airbags for all rows are standard, with a rollover sensor for added protection. Also standard is the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, improving vehicle stability during emergency maneuvers. The standard anti-lock braking system helps to maintain control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking.
