2010 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Overview
You could almost fit the entire neighborhood in the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 full-size SUV, hence the name “Suburban.”
Competing with Ford Expedition EL, Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia in the full-size SUV segment, the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban is available in regular-duty 1500 and heavy-duty 2500 models either in rear- or four-wheel-drive configurations and base LS, LT and luxurious LTZ trim levels. It takes a whole lot of output to power this nine-passenger behemoth, which is why it has been fitted with a 320-horsepower, 5.3-liter flex-fuel V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with auto-manual mode. The flex-fuel feature enables you to use either regular gasoline or E-85 ethanol. This engine also features active fuel management, which automatically shuts down additional cylinders when they are not needed to preserve fuel economy.
The 6.0-liter V-8 engine on Suburban 2500 models is now E-85-capable; however, this engine is no longer available on Suburban 1500 models. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings are 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. With truck-like capability, maximum towing capacity is close to 8,100 pounds.
One of the largest SUVs on the market, the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 sits on standard 17-inch wheels or optional 18- and 20-inch wheels. A plethora of options include an outside mirror turn signal display, power liftgate, power running boards, fog lamps and a luggage rack. In addition, a custom grille, recovery hooks, door handles, mirror caps and fuel-filler doors can all be had in chrome.
Inside, the Suburban offers three rows of seats and plenty of convenience and luxury options, including a navigation system, rear-seat entertainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control, first- and second-row heated seats, Bluetooth connectivity, steering-wheel mounted controls and remote vehicle start.
A host of standard and available safety technologies include antilock brakes, traction control, an electronic stability system, side curtain airbags for all rows, a backup camera with rearview mirror display, blind spot warning system and rear parking sensors. An integrated brake controller for electric trailer-brake systems and optional heavy-duty trailering package provide additional security when towing heavy loads.
Equipped with a powerful V-8 engine producing 320 horses, the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 full-size SUV provides seating for up to nine passengers and offers truck-like towing capabilities and enough modern safety technologies to protect all occupants.
