2015 Chevrolet Spark Overview

New/Notable:
  • Adds Wi-Fi hotspot capability for 2015
  • Four-door minicar with seating for four
  • 82-hp, four-cylinder engine
The 2015 Chevrolet Spark minicar, or very small car if you prefer, adds some new technology for 2015 in the form of Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

The Spark competes with other small cars like the Fiat 500 and smart ForTwo among others, but offers a bit more practicality thanks to its extra set of rear doors. At a quick glance, the Spark looks like a two-door vehicle like its competitors but get closer and you can spot the black door handles recessed into the C-pillars. These two extra doors give rear seat occupants easier access points and give the Spark a leg-up over like-sized vehicles when it comes to utility. Fifteen-inch aluminum wheels and a rear spoiler are included on all models of the Spark. The Spark also gets some of the loudest paint colors around, which feature names such as Lemonade, Techno Pink, and Jalapeno.

Under the hood, the Spark has one of the slightest powertrains around. Its 1.2-liter, four-cylinder engine makes 84-hp and is mated to a five-speed manual or a CVT that was added to the Spark last year. The Spark has good fuel economy ratings, expected for a car of such small stature: 32/38 mpg city/highway.

Cloth seats come standard in the Spark, with heated, leatherette front seats a standard feature on the premium trim level. Power windows and air conditioning are standard, along with a four speaker stereo with an audio input jack. Chevy’s MyLink audio with seven-inch color touch screen, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, Bluetooth audio steaming and hands-free calling, SiriusXM satellite radio, USB port and Pandora radio is optional. For 2015, the OnStar suite of connected technology adds a new feature, the Spark can now serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot over a 4G LTE connection so devices that use Wi-Fi exclusively like tablets can be used in car.

The Spark is equipped with 10 airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, antilock brakes, and hill start assist standard. OnStar is included with all Spark models, and features emergency and crash response, roadside assistance, and turn-by-turn navigation (new Sparks offer a free trial membership; a monthly fee is required after the trial ends).
