2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid Overview
After bursting onto the fuel-efficient scene last year, the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid continues its success with its well-received two-mode hybrid drivetrain making the Silverado 1500 Hybrid one of the cleanest, most rugged trucks around.

Powering this full-size hybrid is a 332-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-8 mated to a two-mode hybrid drivetrain that features an electronically variable transmission. Regenerative braking gathers energy to recharge the batteries during braking and coasting, and the Silverado can drive in pure-electric mode at speeds up to 30 mph. In addition, for 2010 Chevy has included Active Fuel Management on the Silverado Hybrid, which shuts down half the cylinders during low-load operation to save even more fuel. The Silverado Hybrid boasts a 25-percent boost in overall fuel economy versus the regular pickup meaning 20-21 mpg city and 20-22 mpg highway.

The horsepower of the Silverado’s gas motor alone is better than the Ford F-150, and the fuel economy is 2 mpg better on the highway than the F-150, Tundra and Ram; city mileage is several mpg higher than those competitors. Even with great fuel economy, this full-size hybrid pickup offers the ability to tow up to 6,100 pounds and haul a payload of up to 1,459 pounds.

Leather seating for five with power adjustability for the front seats adds comfort to this beast. Standard/optional features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual zone climate control, XM Satellite Radio with NavTraffic, Bose speakers, CD player, DVD-based navigation system, rearview camera and sunroof. Electronic power steering and low rolling-resistance tires help the Silverado be super fuel efficient.

Four-wheel antilock brakes work with traction and stability control systems to help keep the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid pointed in the direction the driver intends. Dual front and two-row head airbags cushion the noggins during impact. Airbags team with the strong full-size pickup body and frame to deliver Five-Star front impact ratings in NHTSA testing.

Your job is hard—don’t let the decision for your next pickup truck be. With a competitive, full-size payload capacity, great luxury features, and completely untouchable fuel economy, the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid is the full-size pickup for the hard-workin’ man (or woman) with a soft spot for Mother Nature.
