Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. GMC Sierra 2500HD Review

Cost
When it comes to MSRP, the GMC Sierra 2500HD costs substantially more than the Chevrolet.

Utility
The Sierra 2500HD's bigger trunk will accommodate more big items than the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Neither the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 nor the GMC Sierra 2500HD has a marked advantage as far as seating capacity. The GMC Sierra 2500HD is likely a better choice than the Silverado 1500 when it comes to hauling capacity, especially if you often need to carry a lot of suitcases or big animals. The Sierra 2500HD outpulls the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 by a sizeable margin.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers a bit more head room than the GMC Sierra 2500HD, there really isn't much of a difference. While the rear of the GMC Sierra 2500HD provides a bit more head- and leg-room than the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, there really isn't much of a difference.

Dimensions
The GMC Sierra 2500HD is significantly more bulky than the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the GMC Sierra 2500HD compete for the same parking spaces. The Silverado 1500's shorter wheelbase may produce a less-settled highway ride but a more agile feel in daily traffic than the GMC Sierra 2500HD.

Performance
With that kind of horsepower, both the Silverado 1500 and the Sierra 2500HD are true speedsters.

Handling
With its tighter turning radius, the Chevrolet is quite certainly sprier than the GMC Sierra 2500HD, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; however, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The Chevrolet's engine is substantially smaller than the GMC Sierra 2500HD's. Note that smaller engines can be stressed more; however, smaller engines are often cheaper to fix. Torque equals pickup, and the Sierra 2500HD will have picked up and gone by the time the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 finally gets moving. Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the GMC Sierra 2500HD is tremendously more powerful than the Silverado 1500.

Warranty
The GMC and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 have the same basic warranty.
