2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Redesigned for 2015 with new interiors and new exterior styling
  • Regular, double, or crew cab models
  • Maximum payload/towing capacity of 4,306/17,900 pounds
The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD gets a full redesign for the 2015 model year which brings new interior and exterior styling, a stronger cab with more high-strength steel, and upgraded technology.

Chevrolet redesigned the smaller Silverado 1500 pickup last year and for 2015, many of those cosmetic changes make their way onto the larger HD models, the 2500 and the 3500. The 2500 has a very squared off stance, with a large new grille up front with a large bowtie logo in the middle that is flanked by stacked headlight clusters. The hood now has two prominent, rectangular bulges that contribute to the boxiness of the new styling. Standard CornerStep bumpers and available EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgates make handling and accessing cargo in the bed easier. The 2500 is offered with a regular, double, or crew cab, and in regular or extended bed lengths (regular cab models only come with the longer bed).

Under the hood, the 2500’s powertrain options carryover from last year. A 360-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 which makes 380 pounds-feet of torque is the base engine (it can be outfitted to take CNG as well). A Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 is optional, which makes 397-hp and a whopping 765 pounds-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (2WD) is standard. A four-wheel drive system is optional on all models. The 2015 2500 has a maximum payload capacity of 4,306 pounds and can tow up to 17,900 pounds with a fifth-wheel hitch installed.

Inside, many of the 1500’s upgrades from last year can also be found, including triple-sealed doors that reduce road noise and plenty of new available technology. The new cabs are larger and offer more comfort than last year’s model as well. Air conditioning, power windows and locks, and cruise control come standard. Chevy’s MyLink audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and internet radio is standard on all models except for the base model (work truck), and in September 2014, Wi-Fi hot spot connectivity will be available over OnStar’s 4G LTE network.

Standard safety features include front, side-impact, and side curtain airbags, all-disc antilock brakes, electronic trailer sway control, hill start assist, and electronic stability/traction control.
