2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Overview
Big jobs require big trucks, and the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD certainly fits the bill.
The 2013 version of the Silverado 2500HD puts capability first, starting with its pair of powertrain options, both V-8s. The base engine is a 360-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-8 that is flex-fuel (gas or ethanol) and makes a robust 380 pounds-feet of torque. For those who prefer diesel, a 397-horsepower, Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V-8 is also available, which makes a mind-blowing 765 pounds-feet of torque. Towing capability is best with the diesel, topping out at 17,800 pounds (14,700 pounds for models with the flex-fuel V-8). Four-wheel drive is also offered.
A variety of cab (regular, extended, and crew cab) are offered, as are two bed sizes (standard box and long box) which gives the Silverado 2500HD some flexibility for cargo/passenger hauling. There are also a few mechanical upgrades available, like a smart exhaust brake that helps to save the brakes.
Inside, the 2013 Silverado 2500HD goes for function over luxury, but the cabin is still comfortable enough for long hauls and the large dials that can be operated even with gloves on are a welcome touch. For those who are still looking for amenities and technology in their work truck, they are available but generally not standard. A navigation system, heated and cooled seats, and a dealer-installed Wi-Fi hot spot system are optional.
