The all-new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is a major evolution of the legendary nameplate featuring a svelte new body style, a wealth of safety features, and an efficient new hybrid powertrain.

The Malibu Hybrid features an efficient 2.4 liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine combined with the Hybrid Propulsion electric system utilizing a 36-volt NiMh battery and 4-speed automatic transmission to deliver an EPA-estimated 24 MPG city and 32 MPG highway. Using an integrated starter-generator, this “mild hybrid” system shuts off the gasoline engine at stoplights, offering a 10-15% increase in fuel economy over a standard 4-cylinder Malibu. The Malibu Hybrid also features unique instrumentation, including a Charge/Assist gauge, fuel-saving eco light, and AutoStop indicator

Taking a big step up with its modern exterior design, the quad-beam halogen headlamps, body-color rocker moldings with bright inserts, and dual-port silver-color grille with chrome surround offer tantalizing styling elements. The standard audio system is an AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player, MP3 playback, auxiliary input jack for your iPod®, and six speakers with steering wheel-mounted audio controls for added flexibility.
