The 2012 Chevrolet Impala offers a powerful V-6 engine with good fuel economy ratings, can be configured to seat six passengers, and is available in three trim levels LS, LT, and LTZ.

Impala has a powerful, 300-horsepower, 3.6-liter, V-6 gasoline/E85 ethanol engine with direct injection, and the six-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels.he Impala has a four-wheel touring suspension, and the LTZ model has a luxury-tuned suspension.

When fueled with regular gasoline, the Impala gets 18 mpg in the city and an impressive 30 mpg on the highway. Fueling with the E85 ethanol option drops the fuel economy rating to 13 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The LS and LT models can seat up to six passengers with an optional 40/20/40-split front bench seat, and the LTZ has seating for five. The standard front bucket seats offer cloth upholstery and a six-way power driver seat, and the LTZ comes standard with leather upholstery and front bucket heated seats with power adjustable eight-way driver and six-way front passenger controls. The rear seat in the LT and LTZ has a flip-and-fold-flat rear seat with access to 18.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. An optional power sunroof and universal home remote transmitter are available on the LT and LTZ, and the standard leather-wrapped steering wheel includes audio controls. The stereo system includes AM/FM radio with CD/MP3 player, auxiliary audio jack, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. A Bose eight-speaker surround sound system is available.

Angular backswept headlights and chrome accents around the black front grille and side window frames punctuate the basic style of the Impala. The rear features dual exhaust tips and a rear spoiler on the LT and LTZ models. Chrome door handles accent the LTZ for added flair. The LS comes with 16-inch aluminum wheels, 17-inch machined-aluminum wheels adorn the LT, and the LTZ features 18-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels.

The Impala is equipped with dual-stage frontal and thorax side-impact airbags for the driver and front passenger, and head-curtain side-impact airbags for both front and rear passengers. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability and traction control provide for safer handling behind the wheel. A tire pressure monitoring system ensures tires are kept inflated to optimum levels. Remote keyless entry is included for all models, and the LT and LTZ include a remote vehicle starter system. OnStar accident and emergency response is included with a six-month subscription.
