All engines for the Express 2500 are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. A 285-hp, 4.8-liter V-8 engine comes standard, while a 342-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 is optional. The Cargo Van also has an available 260-hp, diesel 6.6-liter V-8 version. Fuel economy for the 4.8-liter V-8 model is an EPA-estimated 11/17 mpg city/highway. At the time of this writing, fuel economy ratings for the other powertrain configurations were not available. A powerful 220-amp alternator and a dual isolated battery system are also optional.
Inside, the Express 2500 has multiple interior configurations. The Cargo Van has a maximum seating capacity of 5 passengers with the optional rear bench equipped. It also has six standard D-ring tie downs for cargo. The Passenger Van offers standard seating for 12 passengers across 4 rows. For 2016, all Express 2500 models have optional OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot, which allow multiple passengers to connect to the Internet via smartphone. Also, the standard AM/FM stereo in the Express 2500 models can be upgraded to the Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, satellite radio, and an integrated navigation system. All models come with standard air conditioning, power windows/locks, front bucket seats, and a digital radio. Power seats for the driver and passenger, rear HVAC, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and a tilt steering wheel are available as well.
