2009 Chevrolet Express 2500 Overview
Chevrolet Express vans are available in both cargo and passenger modes, and a range of what the company calls "duty levels" - 1500, 2500 or 3500.  The 2009 Chevrolet Express 2500 model is essentially a carryover from 2008.  The van seats only two in cargo mode but up to 15 passengers when needed, and can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

All three trims come standard with 17-inch wheels.  A combination of flat and convex mirrors allow for a wide field of vision around the vehicle.  The passenger models are available in both LS and LT trims, while the cargo vans are available in Work Van or Upfitter trim for maximum utility.

Clearly, such an outsized vehicle will not be maximizing your fuel efficiency, but the fuel economy for the Express 2500 is comparable to similarly-sized vans in its class, such as the Ford E-Series, the Dodge Sprinter and GMC's own Savana.  The Express will get about 12 MPG in the city and 16 MPG on the highway.

The Express 2500 starts around $23,920, compared to $27,325 for the Ford E Series and $35,135 for the Dodge Sprinter.  Adding a few basic accessories and options can quickly knock that up to around $26,000.

Three different engine types are available for the Express, starting with a 4.8-liter, 279-horsepower V-8.  For customers desiring more power, a 6.0-liter, 319-horsepower V-8 is available, as well as a turbo-diesel 6.6-liter, 250-horsepower V-8.  All three offer air-filter and oil-life monitors and a four-speed automatic transmission boasting a Tow-Haul mode.

Other standard features include rear-wheel drive, electronic traction and stability control (with rollover mitigation), four-wheel disc antilock brakes and side-curtain airbags.  Chevrolet's Driver Information Center in the dash includes instruments that warn the driver of the car's overheating, other engine problems and a theft detection system.

The 2009 Chevrolet Express 2500 is the perfect fit for those drivers who care about their precious cargo, whether it is 15 family members or towing 10,000 pounds of supplies.
