2009 Chevrolet Express 1500 Overview
The 2009 Chevrolet Express 1500 is a practical, durable and affordable passenger/cargo van. The Express 1500 is available in two other duty levels - the 2500 and 3500. While all three models have excellent hauling capacity, the 1500 is the perfect choice for those who are looking for a slightly more compact and sporty van.
The body of the Express 1500 is essentially a carryover from the 2008 model year. The 1500 can achieve 13 MPG in the city and 17 MPG on the highway. Its other benefits - such as design, room and adaptability - outshine its fuel efficiency. The Express 1500 offers a variety of trims including the LS and LT. The cargo version has 225 cubic feet of cargo space and comes in a Work Van and Upfitter trim. All versions are available in four wheel drive or all wheel drive.
Choose between a 4.3-liter, 195-horsepower V-6, 5.3-liter, 301-horsepower V-8 or an E85 FlexFuel 5.3-liter V-8 engine. Each vehicle is equipped with an automatic four-speed transmission.
The Express 1500 is astonishingly affordable, starting at around $28,000, with the fully loaded edition topping out around $31,000. This price is well within the ballpark of its competitors the Ford E-150 Cargo and the Dodge Sprinter.
An AM/FM stereo, 17-inch wheels, gas pressurized front shocks and four wheel disc brakes come standard, while a MP3 compatible in-dash six-disc CD player, power windows, power doors, adjustable steering column, heated door mirrors and an engine block heater are optional. Driver and front passenger head-curtain side-impact airbags, PASS-Key III theft-deterrent system and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System all come standard. The 2009 Chevrolet Express 1500 is an excellent value if you are hauling eight of your best friends or 800 pounds of your best cargo. If you are just entering the market for a large passenger or cargo van, the Express 1500 will get you to your destination safely and reliably.
