2009 Chevrolet Equinox Overview
With all of the SUVs and crossovers on the market, one could easily get confused trying to find the right one. One crossover that has copious amounts of space, several trim options, above average power and fuel economy is the 2009 Chevrolet Equinox.

Choose between four trim lines – LS, LT, LTZ, and Sport – and two engines: a 3.4-liter, 185-horsepower V-6, or a 3.6-liter 264-horsepower V-6. A five or six-speed automatic with overdrive or an auto-manual transmission is available. Front-wheel drive is standard, while optional on-demand all-wheel drive automatically engages to provide added traction and control. The Equinox gets 16-17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Both power and fuel economy are on par with other SUV/crossovers; the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Saturn Vue and Hyundai Tucson.

Only minor enhancements were made to the 2009 Equinox. Standard XM Satellite Radio, side curtain airbags and optional Bluetooth connectivity are just a few of the new changes. One of the most notable aspects of the Equinox is how it utilizes interior space. The adjustable 60/40 rear seats can move forward and backward to give you 35 cubic feet with the rear seat in place, or 69 cubic feet with the seats stowed.

Audio highlights include an available Pioneer® premium sound system, in-dash six-disc CD changer, auxiliary input jack for your iPod®, and XM® Radio – creating a world-class sonic experience. The available DVD entertainment system includes a 7-inch flip-down monitor and wireless headphones for rear seat passengers. Available heated front bucket seats with leather inserts add a greater level of comfort for driver and front passenger.

Safety features include four-wheel antilock brakes, which help prevent wheel lockup during hard braking. The standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control system improves vehicle control during emergency maneuvers and includes Proactive Roll Avoidance to reduce the vehicle’s propensity to roll over in a panic situation. Standard dual front airbags and head-curtain side-impact airbags help reduce the risk of injury in a collision.

If cargo space, power, safety and a plethora of amenities interest you, check into GM’s best-kept secret. Check into the 2009 Chevrolet Equinox.
