2015 Chevrolet Corvette Overview

Chevrolet's iconic sports car, the Corvette, was redesigned last year. With the launch of the seventh-generation version the Stingray name returned, and the car is powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. It competes with the Nissan GT-R, and a high-performance Z06 version is available.

New for 2015
The OnStar communication system adds 4G LTE internet connectivity with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. A three-month/3GB data trial is included. An eight-speed automatic transmission is now available along with a Performance Data Recorder that records high-definition video of your driving with a telemetry overlay.

Two new design packages are also offered. The Atlantic Design Package for the Corvette convertible features a Z06-style splitter, gray exterior accents, unique wheels and custom luggage. The Pacific Design Package for the Corvette coupe comes with black racing stripes, black and red wheels, carbon-style exterior accents, red brake calipers, Competition sport seats and a car cover.

Exterior Highlights
  • Hood and removable roof panel made of carbon fiber
  • Xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights with LED accents
  • LED taillights
  • Functional hood vent
  • 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels (19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with Z51 Performance Package)

Interior Highlights
  • Seats two
  • Leather upholstery
  • Comfort-oriented GT seats or aggressively bolstered Competition sport seats, both of which have magnesium seat frames for better rigidity
  • Smaller-diameter steering wheel
  • 8-inch screen in the instrument panel and middle of the dashboard
  • Available premium stereo with two subwoofers
  • Available color head-up display

Under the Hood
  • 455-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine (460 hp with performance exhaust)
  • Seven-speed manual transmission's active rev match feature automatically blips the throttle to achieve the appropriate engine speed for an upcoming shift
  • Available eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Available Magnetic Selective Ride Control
  • Z51 Performance Package adds an electronic limited-slip differential, dry-sump oil system, transmission and differential heat exchangers, performance brakes, unique suspension tuning and more air deflectors

Safety Features
  • Required in every new car: front airbags, antilock brakes and an electronic stability system
  • Side-impact airbags
  • OnStar emergency communication system with automatic collision notification (includes six-month subscription)
  • Backup camera

Corvette Convertible
Chevrolet developed the Corvette convertible simultaneously with the coupe to maintain the car's driving dynamics without a rigid top. Often, convertibles need chassis strengthening to replace rigidity lost by removing the fixed roof. Chevrolet says the only structural changes to the Corvette convertible are limited to accommodations for the folding top and repositioned safety belt mounts.

What's Special
  • Power-folding soft-top with sound-absorbing padding
  • Glass rear window
  • Top operates at speeds up to 30 mph, and can be activated by the key fob

Corvette Z06
The 2015 Corvette Z06 is the first to offer a supercharged engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a removable roof panel. It's available in coupe or convertible body styles.

What's Special
  • 650-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 650 pounds-feet of torque
  • Unique grille
  • Seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Available adjustable aerodynamic elements and Brembo-brand carbon-ceramic brakes
