2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Overview
Half truck and half SUV, the versatile, rugged, and comfortable 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche combines a full-size SUV with the cargo and towing capability of a truck for the ultimate in utility.
The 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche is available in three trim levels (LS, LT and LTZ), and in either two- or four-wheel-drive configurations. Power comes from 310-horsepower (326-hp with E85 fuel), 5.3-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine, which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and outputs 335 pounds-feet of torque (350 pounds-feet with E85). Fuel economy ratings are helped by a standard 3.08:1 rear axle, which reduces engine speed during cruising to improve fuel economy, and check in at 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
The Avalanche, due to its nature as a truck and SUV, faces a variety of competition including the Honda Ridgeline, Ford F-150, Dodge Ram, and Toyota Tundra. With a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 1,350 pounds, the 2011 Avalanche gives you full-size pickup capability and SUV interior comfort. Four-wheel-drive models are equipped with a standard two-speed transfer case.
What sets the 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche apart from the rest of the pickup crowd is its midgate, which folds down with the second-row seat to give the Avalanche a full-size pickup bed. Features like lockable side-mounted storage in the cargo bed, along with a locking tailgate and cargo cover give you a secured storage space in the bed.
For 2011, Chevrolet Avalanche ditches the Laser Blue Metallic and Black Graphite Metallic exterior colors for Mocha Steel Metallic, Inferno Orange Metallic, and Steel Green Metallic. Outside, you’ll also find standard 17-inch wheels (20-inch chrome wheels are optional) and power running boards on LTZ models. Body-colored mirrors are now standard in the LS package.
Moving to the interior, the Avalanche offers premium amenities like dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable pedals, and remote vehicle start. The 2011 Avalanche can also be loaded with luxurios features like a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, touch-screen navigation system, and titanium or cashmere interior (select models only). A USB port allows you to connect your portable music device directly to the Avalanche.
The 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche also comes with a long list of standard safety technologies. They include roof-mounted side curtain airbags with rollover protection, front seat belt pretensioners, an electronic stability system with rollover mitigation technology, seat-mounted side airbags for front occupants, and OnStar with GM Advanced Crash Response. Additional safety options include a rearview camera to minimize blind spots while you’re backing up and ultrasonic rear parking assist.
For the ultimate in versatility and utility, the rugged, yet highly refined 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche is as unique as it is functional.
