2009 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Overview
Usually when one thinks of a crossover, they think of a mix between a sedan and an SUV.  When Chevrolet thinks of a crossover, they think of a mix between a truck and an SUV.  That creation is the 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 and it is one of the most versatile vehicles on the road today.

The Avalanche is unlike anything you have ever seen before.  Based on GM’s full-size truck platform, the Avalanche has a midgate that folds into the four-door cab, extending the cargo bed to the back of the front seats.  With the midgate up, there are two rows providing seats for six people.  The bed measures 5.3 feet long and has 45.5 cubic feet of volume with the midgate closed. With the midgate and seats folded, there is nearly three feet of extra space.  In addition to all of that space, the Avalanche can haul up to 8,100 pounds.

Available in three trim levels – LS, LT and LTZ – the Avalanche has several different engines and several interior and exterior options so that you get exactly what you want.  A Vortec 5.3-liter, 310-horsepower V-8 is standard on two-wheel-drive models with the option to use E85 ethanol for cleaner emissions.  Four-wheel-drive models are also E85-ready and have a 5.3-liter, 315-horsepower V-8 engine.  Not enough power?  Take it to the next level with a 6.0-liter, 366-horsepower V-8 beast.  The Avalanche runs on a fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission and gets 14 MPG city and 19-20 MPG highway.

Just because the Avalanche is powerful, doesn’t mean that it lacks cutting edge technology.  Bluetooth connectivity, General Motor’s OnStar® 8.0 with Stolen Vehicle Slow-Down, XM Satellite Radio with real-time NavTraffic and rear-seat DVD entertainment system are just some of the groovy features available.

Let the Avalanche help you avoid a collision with StabiliTrack Electronic Stability Control.  Traction Control combined with antilock brakes helps keep the Avalanche under control on slippery surfaces.  Standard dual front airbags and dual head-curtain side impact airbags reduce the risk of injury in a collision.

Get power, space, unique versatility and cutting-edge technology.  Get the 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500.
