New 2009 Cadillac STS

After undergoing a major facelift in 2008, only minor changes were implemented for the 2009 Cadillac STS.  Those minor changes only enhance the already powerful engine, vintage Cadillac style and high-tech safety options.

A dominant grille and sleek front fascia are classic Cadillac. Add those to a small spoiler, 17-inch aluminum wheels and rocker-panel moldings and you have a timeless look.  If you were to look under the hood, you would find one of two things: a 3.6-liter, 302-horsepower direct injection V-6 engine, or a 4.6-liter, 320-horsepower direct injection V-8 beast.  Both Northstar engines offer exceptional acceleration on dry pavement, while available all-wheel drive offers excellent handling in a variety of weather and road conditions.  All that power translates to mediocre fuel economy.  The STS gets 15-17 MPG city and 22-26 MPG highway.  Both the power and fuel efficiency put the STS on par with its competitors—the Infiniti M-Class, BMW 5 Series and Lincoln MKS. 

Key amenities include an available Bose® 15-speaker sound system with in-dash 6-disc CD changer for optimum sound quality. The futuristic heads-up display projects vehicle speed and other readouts on the windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road at all times.  The available ultrasonic rear parking assist uses sonar in the rear bumper to help with parallel parking maneuvers. Adaptive remote start allows you to start the vehicle from the remote key fob. The available Driver Awareness Package includes a Side Blind Zone Alert and Lane Departure Warning to alert the driver to any vehicles entering the blind spot and help the vehicle stay in its lane.

Safety features include 4-channel StabiliTrak that enhances vehicle control and stability during evasive maneuvers. Available Xenon High-Intensity Discharge headlamps offer superior illumination and better visibility at night. Standard All-Speed Traction Control minimizes wheelspin during acceleration and helps during takeoff. Standard 4-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system and Brake Assist offer fade-resistant performance and increased braking power. Dual front airbags, side thorax airbags, and head curtain airbags protect passengers in a collision.
