- Full 5-star crash safety test rating from the NHTSA
The 2016 Cadillac Escalade is the flagship, full-size SUV of the lineup. It shares the same platform as the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL. The luxury crossover has a multitude of standard and available features.
Four trims are available: the Standard, Luxury, Premium, and Platinum.
The Escalade has an imposing physical presence, which can be attributed to Cadillac’s signature architectural design language. It features broad, geometric forms and vertical headlights and taillights. Standard features include 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, LED exterior lighting, and a hands-free power liftgate. Larger 22-inch wheels and power-retractable side steps are also available.
The Escalade is powered by a standard 420-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 engine and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and 2-wheel drive (2WD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD). Fuel economy for the 2WD Escalade is an EPA-estimated 15/22 mpg city/highway. It drops slightly to 15/21 mpg for the 4WD.
Inside, the Escalade has a premium interior with leather-trimmed seats and wood and metal accents. It comes standard with the Cadillac User Experience entertainment system, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, 5 USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio. Second-row seating can be configured as two individual captain’s chairs or as a single 3-seat bench. OnStar 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hot spot, keyless entry, a push-button start, a power-folding third row seat, and a Bose premium audio system are standard. Optional features include full leather seating, a rear seat DVD entertainment system, and a second row, power folding bench seat.
The Escalade earned a full 5-star crash safety test rating from the NHTSA. The Escalade has a standard 360-degree surround-view camera system for safer driving and parking. Other standard features include OnStar Emergency Services, front airbags, antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Multiple alerts for forward collision, lane change, lane departure, rear cross traffic, and side blind spot are available. Other available features include front and rear automatic braking and lane keep assist.
