The 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV is the plus-sized version of the flagship Escalade SUV. Overall, it has the same standard and available features as the regular Escalade. It also shares the same platform as the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL. This year, it remains largely unchanged, but it does receive a few new features.
Four trims are available: the Standard, Luxury, Premium, and Platinum.
The Escalade ESV has an imposing physical presence, which can be attributed to Cadillac’s signature architectural design language. It features broad, geometric forms and vertical headlights and taillights. It has a 130-inch wheelbase, which is 14 inches longer than the Escalade. Standard features include 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, LED exterior lighting, and a hands-free power liftgate. Larger unique 22-inch wheels and power-retractable side steps are also available.
Powering the Escalade ESV is a standard 420-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 engine and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that produces 460 pounds-feet of torque. 2-wheel drive (2WD) comes standard, while 4-wheel drive (4WD) is optional. Fuel economy for the 2WD Escalade is an EPA-estimated 15/22 mpg city/highway. It drops slightly to 15/21 mpg for the 4WD.
Inside, the Escalade ESV has a premium interior with leather-trimmed seats and wood and metal accents. It has 120.9 cubic feet of cargo space. It comes standard with the Cadillac User Experience infotainment system, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, 5 USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio. Second-row seating can be configured as two individual captain’s chairs or as a single 3-seat bench. OnStar 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hot spot, keyless entry, a push-button start, a power-folding third row seat, and a Bose premium audio system are standard. Optional features include full leather seating, a rear seat DVD entertainment system, a second-row, power-folding bench seat, and a new, rear camera mirror.
Standard safety features include OnStar Emergency Services, front airbags, antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. The Escalade ESV also has a standard 360-degree surround-view camera system for safer driving and parking. Multiple alerts for forward collision, lane change, lane departure, rear cross traffic alert, and side blind spot are available. Other optional features include front and rear automatic braking, lane keep assist, and now automatic park assist.
