2010 Cadillac DTS

How the 2010 Cadillac DTS stacks up against the competition - by Nigel Cooper, Topanga, CA

Cadillac DTS Review
2010 Cadillac DTS
Price Range: $46,280 - $59,475

Handling
With its tighter turning circle, the average sedan is definitely more maneuverable than the Cadillac DTS, something to consider if you do a lot of city driving; on the other hand, note that a vehicle with a tight turning circle may feel a bit twitchy on the highway.

Drivetrain
The average sedan's engine is significantly smaller than the DTS's. Keep in mind that smaller engines can be stressed more; on the flip side, smaller engines typically get better gas mileage. Torque equals pickup, and the Cadillac DTS will have picked up and gone by the time the average sedan finally gets moving. The average sedan could learn a lesson or two from the Cadillac DTS with respect to pickup.

Utility
The DTS will definitely prove handier than the average sedan for those of you with frequent kid-cargo. Towing is substantially more the average sedan's forte than it is the Cadillac DTS's.

Convenience
You will have to visit your friendly gas station more often with the Cadillac DTS than with the average sedan.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Cadillac DTS offers a bit more head room than the average sedan, there really isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Cadillac DTS make it significantly roomier for your passengers than the average sedan.

Dimensions
The Cadillac DTS is considerably more bulky than the average sedan. The average sedan's tank is almost the same size as the DTS's, though the DTS's is a little bigger. The average sedan and the Cadillac DTS compete for the same parking spaces.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. The average sedan is substantially cheaper to get to the dealership than the Cadillac DTS. Producing a precise gas mileage evaluation is so difficult that some think not even the federal government can do it, but it looks as though the average sedan is the winner when it comes to gas mileage. The Cadillac DTS guzzles a lot of gasoline compared to the typical sedan. The average sedan is significantly less expensive than the Cadillac DTS with respect to MSRP.

Warranty
The basic warranty that comes with the average sedan isn't quite as generous as the Cadillac DTS's.
