2012 Buick Regal Overview (See Available Styles)

As entry-level luxury sedans go, the 2012 Buick Regal has solid performance, refined appointments and an excellent pedigree.

The 2012 Buick Regal has many new additions, like the performance-oriented Regal GS and hybrid Regal eAssist (which are reviewed separately). The new IntelliLink multimedia system can play internet radio from your smartphone via Bluetooth and USB connectivity. A seven-inch touch-screen monitor is also part of the IntelliLink system. New available options include push button start, remote start and a universal garage door opener, while the power side mirrors are now heated and have integrated turn signals, and the bi-xenon high intensity-discharge headlamps gain blue rings. A black chrome waterfall grille and portholes on the hood add to the Regal’s regal look.

The 2012 Buick Regal is powered by two engines: a base 182-horsepower, 2.4-liter inline-four cylinder and a 220-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder that generates 260 pounds-feet of torque and both are paired to a standard six-speed automatic transmission, with a six-speed manual offered on the later.  The available Interactive Drive Control System equips the car with an adaptive suspension and automatically tailors itself to road conditions and driver behavior. Fuel estimates range between 18-20 mpg in the city and 31-32 mpg on the highway. Competition in the entry-level luxury sedan class includes the Acura TSX, BMW 328, Infiniti G25 and Volkswagen Passat.

The Regal is chock-full of standard features like leather upholstery, heated front seats, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, split-folding rear seats, Bluetooth connectivity, a seven-speaker sound system with CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, OnStar, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, cruise control and dual-zone automatic climate control. There is seating for five and a spacious, 14.2 cubic-foot trunk. A 12-way power passenger seat, 336-watt Harman Kardon 5.1 Matrix sounds system, sunroof and HID headlamps are optional.

Safety comes standard in the 2012 Buick Regal with side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, antilock brakes, an electronic stability system and traction control. Backseat side-impact airbags are optional.

Nice fuel economy estimates, impressive appointments and American styling make up the 2012 Buick Regal sedan.
