2016 Buick LaCrosse Exterior

2016 Buick LaCrosse Overview (See Available Styles)

  • Full-size sedan with front- or all-wheel drive
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto added for 2016
  • Five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA
The 2016 Buick Lacrosse is the largest sedan in Buick’s lineup, with plenty of room inside for passengers and a comfortable, quiet cabin that feels more expensive than its price tag would imply.

Buick has positioned itself in an interesting space, offering near luxury levels of refinement at a price point that splits the difference. The LaCrosse is a perfect example of this, with a non-descript exterior that aims for elegance with a waterfall front grille and Buick’s signature portholes embossed in chrome resting on the side of the hood. Wheels range from 17-20 inches in size; behind the grille are active shutters that close at highway speeds to improve gas mileage by making the car more aerodynamic.

Under the hood, the LaCrosse offers two distinct powertrains. The standard engine is a 304-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. For more fuel efficiency, a mild-hybrid system is available that combines a 182-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. Front-wheel drive is standard, while V-6 models also offer rear-wheel drive.

Inside, the 2016 LaCrosse updates its technology offerings. The standard IntelliLink multimedia system features a larger 8-inch touchscreen, now has two USB ports, and (most significantly) adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Those two systems allow you to mirror apps from your smartphone (like maps or messages) on the larger screen for easier, safer operation. Standard features include Bluetooth capability, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, powered front seats, Wi-Fi hot spot capability, and leather upholstery. Heated/ventilated front seats, navigation, and a Bose sound system are optional.

Standard safety features include a rearview camera, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and six airbags. A five year subscription to OnStar Basic is also included in the purchase of every new LaCrosse.
