Buick’s five vehicle lineup adds new technology for 2015, with each model (minus the Enclave) adding Wi-Fi hotspot capability via a 4G LTE connection.
This service is offered by Buick’s parent company, GM, through their OnStar suite of technology. It works like a cell phone plan, you pay a monthly rate for a block of data to use via their service; each new Buick comes with three free months of the service for car buyers to try out.
Buick’s smallest car offering is the Verano, the first compact car Buick has offered in over a decade. It comes with similar styling to the Regal and standard 18-inch wheels. Inside, the materials are upscale and features like acoustic glass and triple-sealed doors make for a quieter, more comfortable interior space than expected for a car of this size and price.
Next up is the midsize Regal sedan, which is also offered as the performance-oriented Regal GS and the the Regal eAssist. Last year the Regal got a series of updates which included updated exterior styling, overhauled interior controls, a new engine option, and optional all-wheel drive.
The midsize LaCrosse is the flagship sedan for Buick and also received a slew of updates for 2014 that mirrored those in the Regal: exterior styling changes, active grille shutters for increased fuel economy, revised interior layout, and more available technology. The available direct-injected V-6 makes 303-hp and is bi-fuel capable, meaning it can run on E85 ethanol as well as gasoline.
The diminutive Encore is a very small five-seat crossover that is characterized by its short front and rear overhangs. It is the modern evolution of the small SUV, very much at home in urban environments thanks to its small footprint, while keeping the high seating position and extra cargo room that people enjoy. It gets good fuel economy for a near-luxury crossover, at 33 mpg on the highway.
Rounding out Buick’s lineup is the three-row Enclave crossover. It offers a standard power liftgate for added convenience, while heated and cooled front seats and a navigation system are optional, as is all-wheel drive.
